For many people, the thought of Dolce & Gabbana expanding beyond its current reach is simply unfathomable. However, in 2012, the esteemed house launched its unrivaled Alta Moda brand.
What is Alta Moda?
The Alta Moda brand was conceived to represent the ultimate lifestyle and appeal to consumers with the most discerning tastes. The Alta Moda brand offers elite membership, and since its inception, more than 1,000 members join each year to attend the Alta Moda Collection Show. This show serves to showcase the brand and spread awareness.
Launching a new couture line of products can be risky. Fortunately, Dolce & Gabbana is always dedicated to crafting fashion that is directly influenced by art and fashion that speaks to the unique tastes of higher-end consumers. The first exhibit was held in Taormina Sicily in 2012 with spectators from the US, Russia, Germany, and Qatar in attendance. The weekend-long event served to immerse those who appreciate and value avant-garde fashion in the brand and its identity. The event was an overwhelming success.
Recent Exhibits
Since 2012, exhibits have been held across the Mediterranean, and in 2015, a male line (the Portofino collection) was added to the brand. The line included clothing, hats, bags, and shoes that were hand-designed solely for Alta Moda.
In 2016, the event was hosted in Hong Kong, a far cry from its Mediterranean roots. The exhibit featured male and female fashion lines with 47 looks for men and 58 looks for women. This time, more than 240 members were in attendance for the lifestyle event at the luxurious and exclusive Peninsula Hotel.
The 2017 Alta Moda event was held in Palermo on the Italian island of Sicily. This time, the collection was inspired by the romantic settings of Southern Italy. In 2018, the final show featured a “Night at the Opera” theme with numerous celebrities in attendance for both the men’s and women’s shows. The weekend’s show incorporated brands beyond the sartorial lines in an effort to truly establish Alta Moda as a lifestyle brand.
Following the global pandemic, the Alta Moda exhibit reemerged in 2021 with celebrities from all walks of life in attendance. This cast of superstars was treated to a view of new collection pieces and a live performance by Jennifer Hudson. In 2022, Dolce & Gabbana continue to dominate the fashion world by blending art and couture fashion in a seamless and elegant manner.
